We haven't got together for a while, the last time was in the summer when Nick and I met for a drink.
Tonight on Nightwaves on Radio 3, there's been a discussion about e-readers. David Almond said all writers want is readers. I haven't tried an e-reader, saw two people sitting opposite each other on the tube reading The Slap, one in paperback, the other on a Kindle. I guess they're inevitable. Unless you're sitting next to someone it's hard to tell what they're reading on their e-reader so it's harder to judge them. I'll stick with paperbacks for a while, but there's no point being precious. Some contributers asked about posterity, there'll be no records of letters to editors or writers' drafts. But that's just the nature of the new technology. We get more stuff (like this blog) but at least it will all disappear.
Been experimenting with a bit of technology myself. Tried Issuu, see if it makes longer documents easier to read on the web.
